McClain Background Info:
Nationality: Scotch-Irish, known to go with the Bible in one hand and a rifle in the other.

Thomas and William McClain took part in the Williamson Expedition from 1782-1785. In one of its bloodiest moments Christian Indians at the Moravian mission slaughtered them in cold blood. The Indians took a similar gruesome revenge. Charles’ son Abijah McClain was with Morgan's Raiders during the Revolutionary War.

Thomas McClain b. 1752 was a ruling elder of the Cool Spring Presbyterian Church, organized about 1800. I have more photos of the church. A family story claims that Thomas and the Rev. passed around a whiskey flask before beginning work on the church.
